In February 2020, after returning from Mito to register my visa change from researcher to student, I decided to stop by Doho Park in Tsukuba. Upon arriving, I was surprised to see dozens of ducks gathering around an elderly man. It turned out that he was feeding the ducks, which numbered around fifty. This was an interesting moment that I managed to capture in a video, which you can view through this link.
There’s something unique about Tsukuba, and perhaps all of Japan. Every winter, parks with ponds are filled with ducks resting by the water’s edge or swimming peacefully. Their sizes vary, and it’s a delightful sight to witness. The ducks look calm and comfortable, as shown in the picture above.
